  1. When one stops to really consider the vastness of the universe, it truly is a miracle. Voyager 1 was launched in 1977 and has been travelling at about 38,000 MPH and is just now leaving our solar system (37 years). Then it is four light years to the nearest star.

One light year equals light traveling at 186,000 miles per second for one year.

    Light travels:
    11,160,000 miles in 60 seconds
    669,600,000 miles in 1 hour
    16,070,400,000 miles in 1 day
5,865,696,000,000 miles equals 1 light year
    23,462,784,000,000 miles in 4 years

    Our blue planet is amazing.

    • Patrick- I love the reminder of those things! Not townyion if we’re to go inward, to a microscopic level, the same exact, mind-blowing scaling occurs. Or the symmetry in a leaf. The color of a tropical bird. All of it, really. “There are two ways to look at things. The first is as though nothing is a miracle. The second is as if everything is.” I forget who said it, but it’s spot-on.
